Timothy Shepherd was selected as the first recipient of the new Iowa Pork Foundation fellowship of $2500. Tim is completing his MS in Agricultural Engineering and is conducting research on the recovery of phosphorus from swine manures.
R.T. Burns was recognized as the 2007 recipient of Iowa State University College of Engineering Superior Engineering Extension Award during the Fall 2007 College of Engineering Convocation.
R.T. Burns was named an honorary professor within the College of Agriculture, Trakia National Agrarian University, Stara Zagora, Bulgaria by Dean Ivan Stankov during his visit to Iowa State University in August. Burns has lead two USDA-FAS Extension Education projects focusing on improving the expertise of Trakia National University faculty in the area of manure management.

A number of ABE faculty meet regularly with their research groups. These meetings are an opportunity to discuss, collaborate, problem solve and learn in topics relevant to the faculty member’s areas of expertise. Typically such meetings include graduate students, post-docs, staff, other faculty and sometimes undergraduates.
